I can't seem to fall asleep, today was a great day... I was very productive and had a fun din-din with one of my friends... yet I can't seem to fall asleep... perhaps I am still on Texas time ;) I realized today how little time I've been spending online blogging and such, I think I need to spend more quality time participating in social networking and sharing... Because, sharing is caring! :o) Honestly, I am just very excited of what possibilities are held in this upcoming year, perhaps that is why I can't sleep tonight, too many ideas running through my head... A sporatic decision, but a good one, I think... I've joined a wine club... with my sweetie pie of course. I started off at Gary's Wine Library to look at some wines. Then I joined the wine club at Wine Insiders for just $20 a month. Lastly, I created an account at Cork'd so I can start a wine journal. It's a great free site! Last night was definitely the best surprise birthday party ever! I was so glad to see everyone come out and pitch in to help wish my friend a happy birthday... it was so much fun! A special thanks to Datalore and Bluefox for their 'technical expertise'. I couldn't stop laughing the whole time... ok, except for the part me waiting for half and hour with the cake! LOL ...but I blame that entirely on Daniel B. (just kidding)... anyhow.. a huge thank you for everyone who collaborated on the 'evil plan' with me... it was so worth it! I was coming home a little bit ago and almost had a big accident! :( Yes, it was very scary... I was going down a hill and lost control over the car - the breaks & gas were useless! It's snowing and it's icy... and the plows haven't been out yet. But there isn't a lot of snow on the ground, so I guess that is what caught me off guard. I was about in 1/2 a foot away from hitting a brick building! Yikes! Luckily, somehow... the car finally stopped and I was able to drive home in a safe manner. I guess my guardian puppy (the upgraded version of a guardian angel...lol) was watching out for me! Now I am just looking forward to snuggling up in bed. Nitey nite! :o)

I am glad to say I had one of best Valentine's day in years... It was simple and genuine... I think that is what matters most. Last year was very painful and just plain horrible... so I am glad this year karma is favoring me this time. I even got a rose. How sweet is that? :) Anyhow, I'm off to get some sleep... a long holiday weekend does not necessarily mean 3 days of vegging out... I need to be productive! ;) I'm smiling a lot more these days... so that is a good thing...

I can honestly say this weekend couldn't have gone better if I had tried planning it. It was all 'ad hoc' and it worked out amazingly well, well I at least so :) I learned how to 'toss taters' the right way... was treated to some great fare and the company was also pretty wonderful :) I look forward to more weekends like that, let's see what is in the cards... :)

Ok, this sounds weird but I discovered my DREAM home... the World! Yup, the World is a floating residence that travels around the globe. It is amazing... I only need to be worth at least $5 million to be able to purchase an apartment suite on the ship - drats! Unfortunately, I'm a few million short :( Residences start at $1,450,000 for one-bedroom apartments, two-bedrooms from about $2 million. But for the moment I can dream! =o) How amazing would it be to go to sleep in London and wake up the next day in Germany? I love travel and this would be the ultimate residence for me... discovering new places, foods and meeting people from all over the globe without ever packing a suitcase. To make things even more wonderful, the ship has 24/7 broadband access! For me, quality of life is the most important thing in life and this type of home allows you to explore exotic ports of call without the stress of flying, packing, going through customs, etc. Check it out! Just a useful tip of information for all you super-fit guys and gals...or at least those trying to be :) I recently found out that most people did not know that most health insurance programs are now offering discounts for healthy lifestyle choices, i.e. health club memberships and structured weight loss plans. Yup, that's right, you can get a special discount (usually on top of whatever promotion the gym is running) for a new gym membership and sometimes for existing membership. Check your health insurance provider's website for more information, they usually don't advertise the plan benefits outside the website - so check!

Congratulations to the happy couple; Teddy & Stamatia! They celebrated their engagement in a grand way tonight! A great time was had by all! It was nice to see 'the boys' all together again - it's been a while. Ahhh the good old days when it was just 'the boys' and I hanging out and 'girl shopping'.... now they all have girlfriends! Geez... I am behind the eight-ball... now I, the only chick in the bunch, is still working on finding my other half.... ahh the eternal search for the perfect ying to my yang... he's out there... I know it, perhaps under that rock I drove by today ;) Anyhow... tonight reminded me how wonderful and easy life can be when you finally find the person that shares your desires and dreams - and isn't interested in finding out if there are 'greener pastures' and true love exists. It's really nice to see two people really look at each other with the unmistakable look of love. It gives singles girls like myself hope...

Actually, I would have to agree with Chris on this one. I couldn't make it to MacWorld either... I'm probably better off anyhow. All those gadgets would have given my credit card a major workout! If I made the trek to San Fran to see Steve unveil the MacBook Air I would be a tad miffed. At first look it is beautiful, sexy...yes, a computer can be sexy :P But no external drive of any sort?! That is just insanity! Come on, how are we supposed to get music, data or videos onto that beautiful piece of work? But that is just it... it is beautiful, but not practical.

Here was a lost opportunity for big bucks... way back in 2000 I attempted to register the domain www.chacha.com but some entity over in China had already registered it. I emailed them several times letting them know I was interested in purchasing the domain, since it was the name of my beautiful pekingese, ChaCha. Oh well, granted I didn't think up the idea of the human aided search via SMS, but hey I was spot-on with the domain! :) Well, regardless... I love Chacha! Yup, it was an early start today... yup, thanks to my dearest, favorite person in the world - who called me at 2:20AM and woke me up. After a nice drive into New York City at 3:30am and I am now back in New Jersey at my office. Anyhow, after a nice cup of coffee I am now fully awake...a bit on the grumpy side, but awake. So happy Wednesday to everyone :)

My Data's Back!

Yippee Wooers! My data is back! All of my data! Even my apps! The genius of WirelessPacket saved my external hard drive... even after supposed 'experts' looked at it. The WD Passport drive was fried, but with a stroke of good luck and good old know-how, he was able to mount the drive and save all my data. Brilliant!!! Now I know NOT to throw a drive like that at the bottom of my purse...hmm not such a bright idea... I had no idea those drives don't have any padding to protect the guts from bumps and other travel traumas. I wanted to publicly thank him for his generous help in all things technical. He's one smart cookie! I can never thank him enough for all the times he's come to my rescue on everything from data recovery to wireless network reconfigurations. Boys & girls, this is a true geek :) It's a good thing, really...it is! My undying thanks again Wireless :)

My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding...Preamble to My Big Fat Fabulous Divorce?

I made the mistake of channel surfing today while working and landed on WE's Fabulous Life Presents: My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding. I found myself shaking my head at the plainly obvious sign of 'gold digger' in these episodes. It's sad that these men are so successful by working so hard, yet they meet some hot girl that is "in love with them" and they are all weak in the knees. Funny enough, these brides-to-be insist on nothing but the best... payable by their soon-to-be-husband, of course. In all three cases, none of the brides brought anything to the table except for their uncontrollable, sky-high demands for the best-of-the-best. Am I the only one that is noticing that these couples are doomed for failure? These women are an embarrassment - they pull off these grand displays of luxury and fabulous fantasy to celebrate themselves; not their marriage. It's sad, truly sad. They make a mockery of marriage and what a wedding is supposed to be. Well, that is my rant on the latest of what I've seen of 'reality television'.

Back to school!?

So it is about 3 am on a Saturday night... and what am I doing? I can't sleep, my case of severe insomnia is persisting... so I am putting my time to good use. I have been wanting to find out what I need to do to pursue a graduate degree and finally found out what I need to do.

So here goes, the best case scenario is to apply to Columbia University and NYU... and both require I take the GRE. So that's what I'm going to do first off the bat. I don't know if I stand a chance to get into either of these tough schools, but hopefully I can do well on the exam and garnish some excellent recommendation letters. Either way, I am going to attend an information seminar in February regarding the program NYU offers on a part-time, weekend basis.

So the plan so far is find out when the GRE is being offered and start prepping for it. I think I'll skip the prep course though, those things are expensive and I can easily purchase the workbooks off of eBay :)

Before looking into the graduate programs, I looked into the IREM's Certified Property Manager program, however I do not qualify as of yet - apparently I need at least 3 years of experience and must be a member of the local chapter. So that isn't an option at this time.

So I am aiming for Spring 2009 enrollment - if everything goes well. Plus there is always the fun part of figuring out how to pay for school... lol... joy! Wish me luck and drop me a line if you have any suggestions on financial aid and/or the GRE exam =o)

CONFUZZLED: (verb) the state of being really confused and puzzled.
Example: Those who cannot speak English using proper grammar make me confuzzled.

COOL BEANS: A phrase popularized in the 1980s by U.S. teenage females who were viewers of the American sitcom "Full House." For some yet unknown reason, these persons found the show entertaining and desired to emulate actress Candace Cameron whose character repeated the phrase incessantly on the show.

Is used to express approval or liking.

Example:
Person A: "Hey, its TGIF on ABC tonight! Wanna watch 'Full House?'"
Person B: "Cool beans!"

TOODLES: (noun) A slang for goodbye.
Example:
Person A: I'll talk to you later.
Person B: Toodles!

FUDGE & CRACKERS: A phrase used to replace swear-words such as d***, s***, or f***.
Example: The dog is digging in my garden again! Fudge and crackers!

YUPPERS: (adverb, noun, plural) To agree as in saying yes, but in a cuter way.

Example:

Person 1: "Do u like ice cream?"

Yes, that's right, I'm talking about Alien Life Form...ALF! :) Surprisingly, I got him as a late Christmas present on New Year's Eve. He looks a bit odd, but he's a nice roommate for Snuffy and Fozzy Bear. They need to socialize more. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that today turned out pretty positive. I stayed on track at work and stuck to my 'to do list' as closely as possible. However, as anyone can relate too... interruptions occur often. Tomorrow should be just as busy, but I feel that buy jotting things down as soon as they pop into my head is helping relieve some stress. Well, as for now, I am at home relaxing a bit... after popping in 512 MB RAM. Ahhh increased ram... what more can a girl want? lol Hey, the excitement doesn't stop there - oh, no sir-e-bob.... I got a 4MB RAM flash drive too... omg... someone control me! ;)

Well, it's not like getting a new computer (not even a little bit), but it feels good.

The Year of My Transformation

...well, that is what the fortune cookie said last night. So apparently, that is the best way I thought I could start off 2008. I spent a lovely night with friends and laughed a lot... that is how I want to spend this coming year... Laughter and surrounded by good friends.

This year I will turn 30. 30...wow...I don't feel a day over 22 in my head and heart. I have gone through a lot of 'detours' and 'wrong turns', but I am still here and on my feet. I think I am almost done grieving for the love I have lost and the life I wanted so bad, and how it all fell through my fingertips - regardless of how hard I tried to keep it all together.

I am going to try to overcome my shortcomings this year, little by little. (1) Improve my organization, (2) Focus more on my goals, and (3) Let go of the past.

I no longer want to be easily lied to because I want so much to believe. I need to learn that my personal ideal does not always exist. I have to learn to curb my urge to take care of individuals and make things 'better', as it usually lands me in a great deal of trouble in the end.
